High-flyer Padraig O'Ceidigh, who refused to use powerpoint slides when he addresses a delegation was previously an accountant, a lawyer and teacher before he became an airline owner. He has since built the carrier up from an island-hopping service on the west coast of Ireland to one of Europe's fastest growing airlines.

Over 70 people attended the presentation and most were taken aback by the sheer honesty of Padraig and in particular the heart felt warmth he exuded throughout his talk. He spoke of ego, and power and how damaging it is to the overall vision. He explained that the importance he portrayed to his success was all governed by sharing his vision with those people who had the skills to help him build that vision, namely his family and his extended family - The Employees.

The airline carried 1.1 million passengers last year, generating sales of 110 million. Today Aer Arann operates over 600 flights per week, across 40 routes in Ireland to the UK and Northern France.

The presentation was the latest in a series of events organised by IIBN which brings together some of the most successful business professionals in Ireland and overseas to share best practice and explore new ways to attract and share new domestic and international business opportunities.

Speaking about the event, Chairman of IIBN Conor Foley, said "Padraig gave a rare insight into the Aer Arann journey and how he, together with his team, continue to build the Aer Arann vision ? specifically by sharing his vision with the people who have the skills to continue to enhance it. It was clear for everyone to see that Padraig has an inspirational attitude to entrepreneurship which is vital for anyone that has started, or is even considering, starting their own business. Attracting the likes of Padraig reflects the work we have put in to developing an events programme for our members which provides a development and support framework for business whatever your seniority or experience. The feedback we have received so far during our first year shows that we have got off to a successful start.
