On 16th July, over 100 IIBN members enjoyed their Summer Drinks boat party along the River Thames in London.

This social and informal evening began with a brief welcome from Conor Foley, Chairman, who thanked everyone for supporting the organisation and noted the importance of collective ownership of IIBN among its members. Conor highlighted some of the events during the first 6 months of 2008, including guest speakers such as Paul Costelloe, Ray Nolan and Jerry Kennelly and the successful launch of the New York Chapter on 24th April which was hosted by the Irish Consulate on Park Avenue.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by Dubliner Johnny Candon who regularly appears at the top clubs including Jongleurs and the Comedy Store. He has performed all over the English speaking world and opened for Ricky Gervais on his Animals tour. Johnny has written on many TV comedy shows including: Weakest Link BBC2, Revolver - BBC1, The Sketch Show - Avalon/Baby Cow for ITV, Meet Ricky Gervais - Talkback for Channel 4, Smack the Pony - Talkback for Channel 4 and The 11'O Clock Show - Talkback for Channel 4.

The evening concluded with drinks and nibbles served on the top deck of the boat with a backdrop of traditional Irish music.
