On 17th September, over 180 IIBN members gathered at the flagship offices of Deutsche Bank in the City of London to hear Lochlann Quinn reflect on his entrepreneurial career which has spanned four decades and numerous company acquisitions throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

The formalities were opened by Conor Foley, Chairman of IIBN.  Explaining that IIBN is a 'not for profit' organisation - owned, managed and controlled by its members, Conor noted that 'IIBN is a unique collection of some of the most successful Irish business professionals and entrepreneurs in Ireland and overseas'.  IIBN initiates business connection and development via events, education and mentoring.  A mentoring programme will be launched at the Irish Embassy in London on 13th November.

IIBN currently has over 800 contacts in London and continues to expand in New York also.  Further Chapters will be launched in early 2009, including Dublin and the Far East.  Conor concluded by thanking Gates & Partners for their ongoing support as sponsors.

John Matthews, Board Member of IIBN and Managing Director, Deutsche Bank then formally introduced Lochlann Quinn, who went on to speak candidly about his career to date.  Educated at Blackrock College and UCD, Lochlann Quinn qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1966. He joined Arthur Andersen & Co. in London and, in 1969, he returned to Dublin to head up their audit practice in Ireland until 1980.  In 1980, he joined Glen Dimplex as Deputy Chairman and Finance Director. He was one of two shareholders but recently sold his interest. The company now has annual sales of $1.3 billion and employs 8,000 people in Europe and Canada.

Mr Quinn's private interests include a hotel in Dublin and a vineyard in Bordeaux.  He is an avid follower and collector of art and is Chairman of the National Gallery of Ireland and former Director of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (1990-2000).

The evening concluded with drinks and canapés and IIBN gratefully acknowledges the support of Deutsche Bank for hosting of this event.
