Charlie Bird, the well-known Irish journalist and broadcaster, announced in October 2021, that he has developed Motor neurone disease, after experiencing problems with his voice.
On 7th January, Charlie launched ‘Climb with Charlie’, a fundraising initiative in which he will be climbing Croagh Patrick on 2nd April in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta House.
IIBN is supporting this "Climb with Charlie" initiative, but instead of climbing Croagh Patrick on Saturday, 2nd April, we are going to climb the magnificient Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail, in Co. Fermanagh - see image below.
(It's not as difficult as Croagh Patrick and typically takes a total of 3 hours to ascend and decend!)
For those who would like to make a weekend of it, we will be arranging Dinner on both the Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as hotel accommodation in the locality. (Further details on this will be provided shortly.)
The Cuilcagh Legnabrocky Trail is about a 2 hour drive from Dublin for anyone wishing to attend on the day.
If you are interested in joining us simply click "Going" on this page (you need to log in to your IIBN profile to see the 'Going' button).
We have set up an IIBN Team fund raising page if you want to join it - pleaseClick here:
All funds raised here will go directly to Pieta and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) and are processed securely.
Join us on Saturday, 2nd April for a fabulous walk in aid of a worthy cause and some long overdue networking on the Friday and Saturday evenings. Overseas members especially welcome!!
