John Fitzpatrick, President and CEO of the Fitzpatrick Hotel Group, North America, has over thirty years of experience in the hotel industry. He began his impressive career in Ireland, where the Fitzpatrick name is synonymous with hospitality. For most of the past three decades, John has overseen the operation of two very successful hotels in New York City where he works diligently with his team to provide guests with an Irish brand of hospitality that is uniquely warm and inviting.

John began his formal hospitality training with a four year hotel management course at the Fitzpatrick Hotels in Ireland, followed by the prestigious hotel management course at UNLV in Las Vegas. After honing his skills with two major hotel organizations in Chicago, John returned to Ireland to work at his family’s hotels in Dublin and Bunratty. He moved back to the U.S. in 1991 when he opened his first hotel in New York City.

After serving several terms as Chairman of the Hotel Association of New York City, John served as Chairman of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) in 2014., an organization that represents more than 52,000 member hotels throughout the United States, comprised of over 4.5 million guestrooms with $137 billion in sales.

John is also a committed philanthropist, and founded the Eithne & Paddy Fitzpatrick Memorial Fund to honor his late parents by supporting a variety of worthy causes in their name. He has organized a very successful charity golf tournament each year since 1994, that has generated over $4 million to support those with real needs through his parents’ fund.

From 2014 to 2020, John served as Chairman for The Ireland Fund America, a subsidiary of The Worldwide Ireland Funds, which currently operate in 12 countries and have raised over $600 million for more than 1,800 outstanding organizations that supports programs of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development. John currently remains on the Ireland Fund Executive Board, and is also on the Board of Directors of The Ireland-U.S.Council.

John has received numerous honours for both his business savvy and charitable work, ranging from Crain’s New York Business“ Top Forty Entrepreneurs Under Forty” to the Irish Voice’s Person of the Year Award. In 2002, John received the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor, whose previous recipients include former presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani, several Nobel Laureates, and other distinguished leaders.

In 2008, John was recognized for his contributions to the peace process in Northern Ireland by being invested with an honorary OBE by Her Majesty the Queen. In July 2011, Queen’s University Belfast conferred upon John an honorary Doctorate of Science in Economics, and in 2013, Dublin City University awarded its highest honorary degree of Philosophy to John.

In his spare time, John is an avid aviator, flying both helicopters and airplanes. He also enjoys water sports, snowboarding, skiing, kitesurfing and golf.

Ann O’Dea is CEO and co-founder of Silicon Republic, Europe’s leading technology and innovation news service, reporting online since 2001. Ann was the driving force behind Silicon Republic’s Women Invent campaign, launched on International Women’s Day 2013, to champion remarkable women role models in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and to help tackle the gender gap in the knowledge industries. She was the founder and curator of Inspirefest, a unique new international sci-tech event, which grabbed headlines for disrupting the traditionally homogenous tech conference calendar. Today, that event has evolved into Future Human an event that aims to showcase the leaders building the products and services for a new tomorrow.
