What’s a farrier? In 1900, with a million working horses in England, there was a farrier on every street corner (or at least the corner of every meadow). By the end of the WW1 the number of working horses in England was down to 25,000 and the horseshoe business and farriers all but disappeared with it. The same is happening with media.
Newspapers, national and local, are disappearing. Podcasts and Spotify are killing radio. Netflix and other streamers have put RTE and other stations under existential threat.
The answer may lie in digital-only media – hence the birth of Ireland’s newest business news outlet, The Currency.
Joining us for an IIBN chat about the future of media and what it means for your business (where will you advertise, where will you raise your company profile?) are The Currency founders, Ian Kehoe and Tom Lyons, both ex the Sunday Business Post. They know what’s coming down the tracks and they’re sharing with IIBN.
We would like to sincerely thank Beauchamps for hosting this event at their offices on Sir John Rogerson's Quay.
